If the pipe is damaged in any way, get a technician to service it immediately. It is also worthwhile to check the fan belt to see if it needs replacement.
- Test the thermostat: Once you’ve cleaned everything up and checked the unit for any visible issues, it’s time to turn on the thermostat to “cool.” Run it for a bit. If you hear strange noises or aren’t getting cool air, your unit needs repairs. If nothing happens at all, there may be an issue with the thermostat itself, such as dead batteries or poor calibration.
- Schedule a seasonal maintenance visit: Some air conditioning issues can’t be handled without extensive training in AC repair and maintenance.
